Mission Statement
The purpose of the STPTA shall be to increase awareness, participation and interest in the game of tennis in the South Texas Area; to raise the standards of teaching tennis as a profession; and to do all acts in accordance with such purposes or to effect any other purposes that may be determined from time to time by the STPTA.
Promote Growth of Tennis & Retention of Players in the Corpus Christi Area that in turn will promote the image of the tennis teaching profession in the eyes of the playing public and employers.
- Grassroots programs – Beginner programs conducted at various clubs & facilities Includes USPTA “Little Tennis†and USA Junior Team Tennis
- Promote, administer and run the USA Adult League Program
(Includes Adult, Mixed, Lone Star) - Promote and Administer the USPTA Fall Leagues
- Administer and run the NTRP Rating Program (Clinics, Protests, etc)
- Administer and run Coaches Clinics
- Promote, administer and run the Adult Grand Prix Circuit Tournaments & Shoot Outs
- Promote, administer ad run the Junior Grand Prix Circuit Tournaments & Shoot Outs
- Promote and administer the City Rankings for both adult and juniors
- Administer & run the USTA Area Training Center
- Partner w/ the CCTA in “Double Up & Across America †Tennis Event
- Waive fees for tournaments and squads for disadvantaged juniors.
- Conduct workshops and clinics at reduced fees or free for schools and organizations
- Promote programs @ own clubs and facilities to grow the game and retain players through tournaments, in-house leagues and social events.
- Attend various workshops, conventions, seminars, and clinics to enhance education and knowledge of game and programs.
- USPTA Certification required to Administer and run most all USTA teaching programs
- Represent Corpus Christi at various meetings, conventions, etc. as officers or committee members for both the USTA and USPTA
- Contribute time & efforts on behalf of various events & Charities in town by administration, playing or contributing equipment or lessons
